Girls Football in the GCGFL

When girls graduate from Wildcats at The Academy, they step into competitive football through the Gloucestershire County Girls Football League (GCGFL), which offers structured fixtures for U12 to U16 age groups. Matches are typically played on Sunday mornings, with midweek training sessions usually held at the High School Leckhampton or nearby venues.

Many female players also make the transition from mixed football into the girls’ game at U12, taking the next step in their development in a league that is competitive, welcoming, and designed to support female players.

The GCGFL is dedicated to supporting and growing girls’ football across Gloucestershire, providing a positive, inclusive, and well-organised environment for players to develop their skills and enjoy the game. Affiliated with the Gloucestershire FA, the league plays an important role in promoting female participation and strengthening the grassroots game.

Leckhampton Rovers has a growing presence in the GCGFL, with more girls’ teams forming each season as interest continues to build. For new players interested in joining a girls’ team at Leckhampton Rovers, please contact lauralee@lrfc.uk or johndevlin@lrfc.uk.
